Surprise!

I was delighted to find 2 sets of pictures of Ahren in my in-box. The one in the jeans jacket is from November, and the others are from December. Gee, I knew it was taking a really long time to get him home, but I didn't expect him to be shaving already!

Does anyone know why they dress the children up like this at Christmas? I know it is traditional, but what does it mean? Are they portraying some famous person from back in time? All I know is that he looks darn cute in that outfit and mustachio!

I just love this kid! He is so, so adorable. . . seriously, how could he be any more handsome?

Dec 12 is the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe and all children dress in traditional clothing. Not sure what the mustache is about though (?)

Hi, I came to your blog via a friend of mine, who adopted in Guatemala...she has a link of a LOT of people's blogs on hers!

Anyway, I've just barely started reading yours today and I have to tell you how completely in LOVE I am with those curls!!! AHhh!!

Ahren & PBJ are gorgeous! I flew down to Guat. a year ago to visit my friend and her two girls and fell in love with the country, people and culture and HOPE I'll be able to make a return visit shortly!

Just came across your blog so sorry this comment is late...
However, they dress the kiddo's like this for the day of Our Lady of Guadelupe. The Virgin Mary appeared to a Mayan man named Juan Diego. On this day, there is a huge feast in her honor and the children are dressed up like Juan Diego.
HTH and yes... I was confused also when our sons were dressed like this.
