I need your help!

The agent that is interested in Katie is going to call me today. I searched the California BBB and got nothing. I have googled and seen lots of news about this person and her company, but it is just press hype. Help! How do I find out anything else?

Her name is Eileen Koch, she runs a public relations firm in Beverly Hills and NY. She represents such people as Carmen Electra, Jamie Fox and Mila Javovich. She has been in the business for 17 years. Her website is http://www.eileeenkoch.com/. I don't even know what to ask her or what she will want. I haven't told Katie. I need to figure this out first. I am sooo in over my head!!!!

Oh great blogger buddies, help me!

First thing to find out is if they want any money up front. If they do, then RUN!

I do know that her company has been in LA since 1990, she represents many professionals and does their advertising as well as celebrities and models. She seems to be highly regarded in the industry. She represents Vince Neil of Motley Crue... She is definately not a "fly-by-night". You could always call Ahhnold S.
Sorry, not much help. I could drive up there and find her...
I would go for it, but I will find the BBB # for you.

I sent you an email with the Corporation background on it.

Hope it helps...

As I said...

I would give them "2 Thumbs Up".

I second that...if ANY money is requested, for photos or anything, it is not legitimate. Anyone who wants to represent talent will handle the expenses because the talent will get work through them when they go on auditions (for acting) or "go sees" (for modeling) and lands tohe job. When the talent gets the work for the agent/manager, the agent/manager takes a percentage of what the talent earns. That is the way a legitimate talent agency/manager makes money.

Also, she has a daughter Joey Lauren Koch that was discovered, started in commercials at the age of 6, gave up acting for high school and then went on to film school at USC and has a successful carrer as a music supervisor for film & TV, and now owns her own company. It is reported that she is good friends with Milla Javovich, who her mother discovered.

Oh my...have you clicked on the entertainment section of the website? The GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS and Burlesk dancers would have me worried for a 15 year old. If your daughter wants to work in the talent inducstry, she needs to have a talent (ie: acting, modeling, singing, dancing-like tap, ballet, jazz). Then, she can audition for jobs. Wouldn't a manager or publicist happen once she started actually working in the industry?

I did a little searching on some national databses for newspaper stories, lawsuits, criminal history, etc. I didn't see anything alarming, but I wanted to share it privately and couldn't find your email. Could you email me at rachelchronicles @ hotmail.com (remove spaces)?

I also agree with the comments that you should not pay them anything -- I think if they're legitimate (and they appear to be), they'll wait for payment until they've gotten her a job. Also, you shouldn't sign anything until you've had a lawyer look it over for you. And when you're talking to her today, ask her if she's represented anyone else in your area that you could talk to.

Good luck!

Wow that is great! I have heard of Eileen Koch and everything has been good. BBB reports go off of phone numbers (so even in the case of an adoption agency.. if the agency changes it's number, their bad report doesn't follow them.. it follows the number). As others have said, ask her about fee's if any. She will tell you what she has in mind for your daughter... I'm guessing commercials spots due to her height, but you don't nec. have to be 5'9" to be a model (Carmen Electra isn't). She will take a percentage from your daughters gigs. They will need to put together a photo book for your daughter so that they can scout for her or simply call you when there is a "part" that they feel your daughter might fit, then she would have to cold read for them or simply meet with the client. You would be amazed at the different type of casting done. Ask her if she works within the Houston area or if you would have to travel to LA much. Ask her how many clients she represents, and make sure you have an entertainment attorney review contract. I'm sure questions will pop up during your conversation and later tonight. Good luck and I'm so excited!!! I think she is darling and would be really good in "teen product" comercials. She is use to performing too!

You can go to this site and type in the name of the company and get some basic information. If you email me I can get other information for you. My email is mandymhelt at gmail dot com. I do research and have access to some databases for competitive intelligence, if it would help!
