Todays Plan

Kimberly, I defnitely could use all the doctor contact info you hvae. You are a Godsend! Hopefully I will be home in a few days with Peri Brynn and then will be aggressively making the medical rounds. Thak you sooo much (and tell Carl I owe him a huge debt, too!)

Julia, please post on your blog. You reach many, many people and we need all the prayers we can get. They have worked the first phase of our miracle already. Now we just need to find compassion at the embassy.

How the hell she got a skull fracture, and didn't even see the doctor until she collapsed in seizures the NEXT DAY? I can't go there right now. All I know is that when she gets out of the hospital today she is coming to me. Not back to the FM. (Remember she was moved from her wonderful FM to a new home about 5 weeks ago.....) I will not let her go back to that foster home.

This morning I will begin the process of apllying for the medical visa. Our agncy has experience in this, luckily. I figure if I have to go sit in their lobby and wail uncontrollably until they give me the visa to just get rid of me, well then I can do that!

The agency had already lined up a parade of babies for me to see today. They were pushing pretty hard for us to pick a new child. I just can't do that. If PBJ was not coming home, ever, then we would have considered it. But no other way.

I was so scared to walk into Peri Brynn's hospital room yesterday. I had read all the neuro info I could get my hands on. Scores to grade damage level, eye positions indicationg hydrocephaly, posturing, etc etc. As I walked n, I could only see part of her face, she had a pillow halfway across her head (she likes to sleep like that, little nut) I pulled back the pillow and her eyes popped wide open and she moved her head to look at me. This was not the semi-comatose child I was expecting. We played te tickle game and she smiled. I would make a noise and she would make it back. She fussed at her arm that was immobilized for the IV. She seemed quiet but that is a side effect of the meds she is on. (Anti-seizure meds and anti-inflammatory meds) The best part, though, she cried when I left. Not that making her cry is good, but it shows me her brain function is really good.

I'll keep postng as I learn things. Thank you all for everything!!!!

PBJ is very lucky to have such a dedicated parent! She is the child of your heart. Which is all that really matters when it comes right down to it.

The details about how PBJ was injured can wait for later. The important thing is treatment and her future.

Praying hard that the embassy staff is cooperative, helpful and merciful.

Good luck at the embassy, Wendy! (I have a feeling they won't know what hit them!) Make sure you go all "Momma Bear" on them!!

We are praying without ceasing...

Wow, Wendy - from someone who's seen hydrocephalus first-hand, PB looks absolutely fantastic. I love how she's looking UP in that photo, and how alert her eyes are!

Isn't it also wonderful that she really knows who her mommy is, and that you are there to help her?

Here's the scoop on our docs:
Neurosurgery:
UT Physicians
Stephen Fletcher
832-325-7242
Dr. Fletcher is amazing. He is the the head of pediatric neuro at Memorial Hermann and the chief of the Pediatric Neuro dept at UT
Dr. Fletcher is, in my opinion, the best of the best. He shares an office with her neurologist, which is great, because they have the opportunity to conveniently discuss her case with no phone tag.

Her neurologist is Dr. Ian Butler, UT Physicians
Division Director Pediatric Neurology
832-325-7151
He has a pretty mediocre bedside manner, but solid knowledge and GREAT connections - got Sam's Doppler ultrasound performed - not just read - by the head of pediatric imaging from TX Childrens, even though she was at Memorial Hermann. Dr. Butler has an amazing assistant named De. I will send her direct number and email to you thru Carl.

Go get 'em. I know you won't rest until you get that visa. Our prayers are with you today.

And keep in your head what the doctors told us over, and over, and over and what is proving true with Samantha... at this young age, babies' brains are SO resilient. There is tremendous potential for recovery even where problems occur.

Hi, I just found you this morning on Ashleys site and want you to know I will be praying for this little sweetie. And for all obstacles to be removed in the path so she can be brought here for treatment. I will go back and read prior posts today. Keep your hope alive and kicking for this little girl of yours, and keep fighting.

Praying for that Visa! Love the photo. She has that get me the hell out of her mom look on her face. Even when she's not feeling so hot she's still a cutie.

Wendy,
I want you to know that I am praying for your little one today. Sometimes I search for answers and find none, but I know the One who holds my Ashley and your sweet little girl in His hands. You are being loved on and lifted up today. Take care my friend. Trish (Ashley's mommy)

Wendy~

I am not asking question, just letting you know, MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU...

I am thinking it is now about 11 am in Guat... And hopefully the CRYING UNCONTROLLABLY is working right about now, and they are stamping the Medical Visa as I type this...

I am sorry... But for your agency to seem to give up so quickly... ABSOLUTELY NOT RIGHT. It isn't about getting a new child, it is GETTING PBJ BETTER!

Love you Girl~

Ellie

I've been reading your blog for months and I'm so glad that PBJ is going to be okay. Crying for you is a good sign. For her brain and she probably remembers you, which is a good sign as well.

I'll pray that you can bring her home soon.

Thank God you're there. I understand what you're saying about not wanting to choose another child until she was never able to come home. Please know that we're still praying and looking forward to you both being home ASAP!

Still praying here. Yeah, the skull fracture? Not going there either.I have to agree about the look on her face, from that photo her eyes look very alert. It's also good to hear her "eyes popped open" and that she cried and tried to play. She's a tough little cookie! Sounds like you've got a top notch team lined up over here. Now praying you through the Embassy...
