I have her!

They released her from the hospital to me this evening. I also got all the scans and results. The fracture in her skull goes from the middle of the back of her head around to just in front of her ear. The neurologist here tells me that there shoudl be no permanent effects but that she needs lots and lots of stimulation to re-gain her skills. Right now her arms dangle like wet noodles and her hands stay clenched most of the time. She has a tic sort of thing where she squeezes her eyes shut every so often, doing it several times in a row. Her gaze tends to wander, especially up, but i can get her to focus again if i make funny noises.

All in all, she is doing very well. Tomorrow i hit the embassy. Hard. Full force. I cannot leave her here. i just can't stand that thought. She is on 3 different meds, one for seizures, one for brain swelling and a strong antibiotic. I can't trust that they can find a foster mother who can be depended on to give her the meds correctly (one is an injection) Dear Lord, make this happen for PBJ. She desperately NEEDS her family at this time in her life and on her healing journey.

Tomorrow, I will post pix! I will be anxious to see if anyone else can compare the before and after pix and see the changes.....

We have been praying praying praying !
I am praying you and PBJ get the birthday miracle you both deserve.
We lifted you both up for prayer at church tonight .
Hayle even asked her class to pray for P.B.
When Hayle prays it is from the heart , I know children have a special place in Gods heart , so I know he hears her loud and clear . it's just so precious to hear her pray .

Sending you both lots of love and hugs!

YESSS!!!!! Of course you need to have her with you. I agree that the medication administration, PBJ needs someone who knows what to do and when to do it.

I am so happy to hear this news.

I cannot imagine what you are going through, but I am praying for your sweet PBJ! I am so encouraged by your attitude through this terrifying situation.
Lord, please give this family grace and provide a visa needed for PBJ to get the best medical treatment possible. Give Wendy favor at the embassy tomorrow, the right people to talk to, and the perfect words to say. Restore this little miracle to full health for Your glory!

Wendy,

I cannot believe this is happening to you. I feel so bad. I am so glad PBJ is with you. That is so important. I have been so upset all day after I saw this on your blog.

We are praying for you and your little darling.

If you need anything please e-mail me (carrie.brody@sbcglobal.net). My husband is a family physician. Let us know if we can help in anyway.

My heart goes out to all of you.

Love,
Carrie

Let's make sure our elected official hear about PBJ. To get atention, may be a good idea to use an email header that says sick child, emergency medical visa needed. Add link to this blog so they see PBJ in a hospital bed and know how serious this is.

Lots of PAPs are emailing legislators to protest the new Guatemalan adoption law so the to-the-point header will keep PBJ from being lost in the shuffle of emails and faxes.

God heard our prayers but if we don't hit the fax send button or zap emails, humans in a position to show compassion can't help because they don't know this child needs help.

Wendy, I am so glad you have her with you. What a birthday present for Peri Brynn. We will pray and pray for your success in getting that visa tomorrow.

I just KNOW Peri Brynn can recover from this - because with God's help I am watching our Samantha do the same thing. We have seen so many similar symptoms. And in only 4 months, we have gone from a frequent severe downgaze that startled strangers to receiving compliments on Samantha's beautiful eyes all the time! (I think this contrast is God's way of reminding me daily of his power!). I spent hours massaging her little arms and hands trying to get her to unclench her fists and use her hands normally. Once, it took me a full 1/2 hour to get her to release her fingers. We are still working on it, but now she uses her hands pretty confidently.

There are GREAT physical therapists here in Houston/The Woodlands and there is so much help to be had. I tell you these things to give you hope for your own sweet girl. Beautiful little Peri Brynn will thrive just as well. She's clearly a tough little cookie, and she wants to come home with you!

Happy birthday, PBJ! May your best birthday present be a visa to come home!
