Today's theme is 'Morons'

Someone, who undoubtably fits the title Moron with a capital M, decided it would be a great idea to put a collar and a leash on a fawn and try and make them a pet. I don't know how they managed it, but the fawn is now loose and it's life is in grave danger. The dangling leash can get caught in the underbrush causing the fawn to die of thirst/starve to death. Or, inevitably, the fawn will grow and the collar is going to strangle it. We got these pictures and then called the local game warden to report. Unfortunately, they can't really do anything. If they try and tranquilize dart it, it might die. They suggested we try and trap it, or wait until it got hung up or so weak we could catch it, then cut the collar off. We are watching it closely, keeping track of it so we can try and save it.

Seriously, how stupid can someone be to do this?

The other story I have for you is actually more comedy than moron-icity. I was checking out of the grocery store earlier today when the girl bagging looked at me and mentioned she had the same shirt. But in a smaller size. Doh! I seriously almost laughed out loud. How many times have I said something without thinking? Only about a million!!!

Oh, that makes me heartsick (the fawn, not the comments from the bagger). I hope you'll be able to catch it and remove the blasted thing. Maybe it'll have a tag on it with the Moron's name and address :-)

Hey, how about calling your local newspaper or TV station to see if they would be interested in doing a story? Could help.

One day I was running in my neighborhood and I saw a squirrel with something around its neck. I thought, "how weird. Someone put a collar on a squirrel!" Then when I got closer I realized it was one of those plastic rings from a milk container. The poor thing must have been rooting in the trash and got it stuck. I spent the rest of my run trying to figure out if there was anybody I could call to try to catch it and save its life. I ended up doing nothing, which I still regret (even thought I think the "authorities" would have laughed at me).

Susan, We notified several news places today and sent the pictures and also are putting an article in our homeowners newsletter. I HOPE there is a name on the collar because I will personally see that they are punished by the law for this criminal act. We see the fawn every morning and night and are keeping a close eye on it. Problem is it is fairly big and can do some real damage with it's hooves, not to mention if Mama feels her baby is being threatened what she might do. If only one of us knew how to work a lasso....

Wow that is unbelieveably stupid. I hope the tag is on there and a collar gets put around that morons neck for a while. More importantly I hope that someone can get the collar off the poor fawn.

Why are there such stupid people out there. Really who wants a pet deer? I guess if you never wanted a flower in your yard again. We have a feeder which helps keep them out of the yard but i really don't want a pet. I hope that they will somehow get it correled. Does your neighbor with horses have a fence thats over 5 feet high that maybe you could get it in, of course even being small a few large men would have trouble try to get a hold of it with out getting the s@#* out of them. We had one with a halloween bucket stuck on its head that was going to die form no food or water, I think it finally got tranked after the news showed it enough.

Hopefully you guys and get it off the poor fawn! People so some strange things. Although I will admit we have brought home a baby gator or two to have as a pet for a few days before releasing it back into the wild!! Dumb I know!

Hopefully the dumba** who put the collar and leash on the fawn was stupid enough to put an ID tag on the collar so when you get it off the sweet baby, you'll have the brainiac's name, address, etc. Oh, you'll have to keep us updated! Can't you see it now: the cops coming to his home and asking him if the collar and leash are his. And when he says, 'Uh, I dunno', they can read his information to him, use your pictures as evidence and put his sorry a** in jail for animal cruely or something that will give him time behind bars (not just a fine) because unfortunately, being stupid isn't against the law. I have little tolerance for people who don't think through their actions and how it may affect another life. I'm hoping you all are able to catch the little darling before that collar ends up hurting him. Thank God for people like you all who have a heart for animals. I agree with Susan about contacting your local TV station about doing a story. That will at least get others to be on the look-out for this little guy. And the more people who are watching out for him, hopefully the more people that can help him. Thank you for keeping an eye on him.

The bagger comment was so funny! Some people just don't think before they speak! And I have to say that I've opened my mouth and inserted my foot more times than I can count!

This has nothing to do with this post but I was just wondering if you could update us on how your friend Candy is doing. I used to read her blog but now that it is private, I can't. I miss hearing about her family and their adventures. I thought maybe you could let everyone know how she was doing since you wrote a blog post about her and how she was having a difficult time not too long ago. Thanks!

P.S. I hope you never go private...I LOVE reading your blog too and I believe I have actually read it longer than most of the blogs I read!

You know, I was trying to be funny when I suggested the collar might have a tag on it with the perp's name and address, but now that I think about it, it could happen, huh?

Ok- I ma definitely in the minority and clearly my meds are making me a little loopy- cause when i frist started reading, my initial thought was "how did Levi and Ahren get that fawn close enough to them to do that".
I can totally see them wanting a fawn as apet- probably becuase Bug wants every wild animal- including squirrels- as a pet.

sorry boys for initally thinking it was you.

I hope the fawn is captured soon so the leash and collar cna be removed.

Love and hugs,
Deb

Oh no, Wendy. After looking at the photos more closely, I don't think this is the same one I saw the other day with a BLUE leash on. If this is not the same one, there are likely TWO fawns needing our help!

Save the world, dear Sis. I wish I could help you catch the little cutie. God put you on this planet for a reason, even if it is in a shirt size larger than your cashier's... I had to howl on that one... I wonder if she ever figured out what she said.
Love You!
